Hey as long as the car has solid window regulators and dosent leak like a newborn, and dosent rattle all to hell, we should be good to go!

I'd still like to see a real M Class version of the X3.

Today I was at a light and on all sides of me were M Class vehicles.

An M3
M5
M6

Would have been a nice pic :-)

I have the same question. And when will I actually be able to buy one?

Be careful of any first year car especially one that is produced by a new factory. I would suspect it will take at least a year to get all the bugs and glitches out of the new model.

I usually agree with this logic... and was a bit apprehensive when I bought my introductory 2004 X3 "virgin birth" so to speak.

83K miles and happy with the results.

Another new one! Why did the Volvo fail you?

I would love if they put a split hatch like the X5. The current X3 had a perfect panel line above the tail lights like the concept. Also it better have that twin turbo engine >.> Can anyone remember when they showed the xActivity concept in 2003? I'm surprised how much of it got translated into the production. BMW for sure doesn't make too many radical concepts like that anymore.

Well here's some prototypes that pop up here and there. The biggest problem with these are people are claiming X1 protos are X3 protos, once you see the two side by side you can tell the difference. Some good pics> http://www.caradvice.com.au/14389/ne...x3-spy-photos/ This one's gallery isn't exactly correct. It has X1s mixed in it.> http://www.motorauthority.com/spy-sh...mw-x3-suv.html

When will we get info on the new X3? How soon could I be in one? The lease on my current X3 expires in December...

Wasn't Magma-Steyr producing the X3 for the european market for awhile before they came over? I remember the problems with the X5, ML, and Nissan Titan & Armada when they first started out with their new factories here. Hopefully the BMW folks have gotten things sorted out and getting spun up with a new model will be fine. I still would be leery of the first year's production though.

Arrow X3 Reliability

I have had 3 X3's, 2004, 2006 and 2008. The first one (which I still have) was by far the most trouble free, even tho it was built in the first month of production at the Ganz Plant in January 2004 (we were the first ED of an X3 in Munich). Early production vehicles are more slowly built and closely scrutinized for assembly defects. However Design Deficiencies, generally surface in the first year of production. So a new plant is not the concern, a new design is.

I believe Magma-Steyr produced the entire E83 X3 model run. As I reported last year, I found the build sheet in my '08 and there was a reference to Magma-Steyr on the sheet.

Oops, a poor choice of phrase on my part, sorry. I should have said "before they were available to us here", rather than "came over here" which does allow one to think the line was moved here, which of course it was not. I still feel that a new model on a new line in a new plant will need sorting out before I would be comfortable getting one. Sorry for the confusion.

Next gen X3 is mentioned in this months Roundel.
It says production has been moved up to this fall due to competition.
Says they will be available spring 2010.
Interesting!

Any additional info? Any chanc you can scan and post it? My current X3 lease ends on December 20th and if the new X3 is not out within six months of that date, then I will be forced to get the Audi Q5.
