03 745I topend noise

Is there a problem that happens to the valve train that makes a noise like a valve tap but with some clattering almost like chain noise? Seems to be on left side?

Does the noise go away after the car has warmed up?

Low oil or sticky lifter, run some sea foam through the engine might help clean out some of the gunk. How many miles? that stuff scares me to be honest but allot of people swear by it.

What part of the left side? Front, Rear, Middle??

My car is doing the same thing, it sound like a chain is loose or somthing in the engine. It is towards the front.

So far I have completed the following steps to try and resolve the issue:

• Lucus Oil treatment
• Lucus Gas treatment
• Lucus Transmission treatment
  
• I stopped putting regular gas into the gas that seem to help a lot also. I still hear the sound of tapping but it is getting better.

Anyone have any more ideas?

Sometimes fuel injectors make tapping noises as they age.
Especially if they are clogging up.

Is it tapping, ticking or rattling? Could be cam, tensioners, lifters, injector, etc, etc. Depends on how the car sounds. If you bring to a mechanic they can use a stethoscope (sp?) type device to pinpoint where the noise is coming from.

regular gas? i thought that was a no-no
