How many miles on your E60?

Would love to hear about anyone who has record mileage on their car and yet it still keeps goin & goin!

How many miles on your ride and what kind of (if any) major problems have you had along the way?

I'm only at 49k, but hoping to get to 100k without any major problems. *crosses fingers*

The only major problem I've had is the radiator leaking but it was replaced under warranty thankfully.

I have an '08 with just shy of 40k miles. Currently the biggest problem has had to do with the audio going out. Took the dealership 2 visit and about a week to fix. Also, my anti-trap on my sunroof was acting funny, but that was fixed when I got an oil change. Other than those two items it has been going strong.

55K on my 2007 530XI, 3 1/2 years ago.

Many, many iDrive blanking problems but fixed (finally) with the umpteenth software upgrade.

Rear, side window blinds replaced twice due to leaking oil.

Recalls for rear shock absorbers and check engine light due to fuel-air mixture software bug.

DS mode went out but the extended warranty fixed it (would have been about $1200.00).

Endless trips to fix BMW-caused problems with low audio on the Aux jack.
The fuel-air recall software upgrade reduced the AUX input level by about 15dB (that is about 2 1/2 times lower) since iPod folks were overdriving this input.
Took about a year and a half for BMWNA to admit it.

Many trips to get Sirius radio reception fixed.
Replaced the control unit and antenna to no avail.
Turns out it is a known Sirius problem due to the lack of ground repeaters.
Even though my XM receiver I added (to the Aux input) received just fine when
the Sirius cuts out!

Would I buy another?
OF COURSE!

It was dripping down the leather side panel on BOTH doors!
The first time they were replaced, they also had to replace the door panels -
which I heard was a pain because of all the labor to drill holes, etc.
The second replacements didn't have enough time to stain the door panels.

My 2005 545i with Sport Package has approx 69.5k miles. No major work done according to previous owner's maintenance records. 30k miles left on certified warranty. Thrust arm and front and rear stabilizer bushings are scheduled to be replaced under warranty. Keeping my fingers crossed for a reliable future.

Let's see, 37k on mine. New ac compressor and condenser, driver seat rail, anti-trap not working on sun roof, battery and noisy idler pulley all replaced under warranty. Took two trips to the dealer nearly every time to get anything fixed and sometimes an argument. Out of warranty now but I'm done with taking it to the dealer for anything.

Just got 4 wheel alignment done by a top quality shop and found rr toe in was significantly off. Sun roof hits the flip up air dam now and won't close unless I hold it down with a pencil so I gotta figure out what's up with that. Blowing a little coolant out of the radiator cap so I've got a new cap ordered.

Skippy, I realize this is an old post, but I had the same problem with my sun roof, and they replaced the track...no charge to me, and so I'm not 100% that it was diagnosed correctly, but thought I'd provide my feedback.

I'm going to go out on a limb here. --Wait putting on flame resistant garb-- OK, so I am of the opinion that if you are not a hard driver, and don't put alot of hard miles on the car, following the BMW recommended service schedule is not such a bad thing. I do not plan on keeping my car forever. Keeping the engine in tip top shape will not lessen the chances of many other things going wrong and adding up in repair costs. Then there is the desire to get that new car smell and new technology,vs. keeping an expensive aging car. There comes a point when it makes sense to replace an aging car. I have had 2 X3's (both 3 year leases) and had 1 major repair done. Front diff replaced under warranty on '07 X3. I rather like the idea of not having to go in for service all the time. I have always taken good care of my cars and have had good luck with all of them. 9 new and this is my first used one. You are free to change your oil and other fluids as often as you like, but all kinds of things can go wrong over time.
As to this thread, I have 35k miles on my '07 530Xi and have not had any problems in my 3 1/2 months of ownership. Just had the TCU replaced (BMW asssist never worked), had Sirius and iPod adaptor installed, and iDrive has been updated in a big way. They gave me a very nice loaner and my car is even more enjoyable now. I have purchased this car and plan to keep it for a bit longer than my previous 2. Hoping for alot of trouble free miles.

Can't argue a lot with this statement... But "hard miles" means different things to different people. Take that baby out on the interstate and drive it at 65 MPH for hours on end, day in day out.... you can put a lot of miles on the oil and it'll hold up just fine - probably go 15K no sweat. Change that pattern into lots of short run - couple of mile - trips to/from work, errnads, etc. and particularly in winter cold climes, and those are some really "hard", oil killin miles. The CBS based sensors and software in iDrive should account for that somehow, but honestly, I just don't trust it. I'll stick with a 7500 mile oil change interval or annually - whichever comes first.

Honestly, I expect most BMW owners get rid of their cars Looooong before the "lack of maintenance" BMW recommends actually hits the pocket book hard.

38,000 miles on my '05 545i. Purchased a year ago with 31,000 miles. Only issue was corroded battery cable which killed the battery. Replaced under warranty. At this rate I'll hit 100K in late 2017.

18500 on my 09 535i. Purchased in December of 2008.

Have had problems with the bluetooth module. Sound fades in and out when calling someone. They changed the module, its still happening, but just a nuisance rather than a dysfunctional problem.

And here I was thinking my 10,000 miles on an '08, 9/07 delivery was low mileage.
