GPS Antenna

The GPS system in my 2000 740il is out of wack always saying that I am out of the map limits. The dealer checked it out and told me I needed to replace the antenna and it costs $450.00 for a new antenna. I found an antenna on ebay for $20.00 does any one have information on how to replace the antenna? I would like to try and do it myself to save some money.

my car has the same problem, saying i'm out of the maps limits. so maybe i need to replace my antenna? i know you need to remove some of the interior trim along with the headliner.

That sounds like a big job.

it can be if you dont know where to pull the trim pieces apart, knowing where the clips are helps. also that headliner can be a pain. the main problem you will encounter will likely be manouvering it out and back into the car. even with the large door openings.

I read on this forum that to reset the GPS system I would have to disconnect the battery. Well, that is a good idea because I had to get a booster to start my car the other day because the battery was down and all of a sudden the GPS start working.
