Mein Auto: no car at the moment
Fabulous rear, good midsection and a somewhat underwhelming front (from anywhere but direct front view, which resembles the LCI 3er somewhat.) The front does not match the rear in athleticism. I think the hood is bit too long. The car seems almost as large as a 7 series. Maybe I'll warm up to the front. Overall a definite improvement from the old one. Interior looks are definitely richer. I suspect it will be much better in real than pics.

Iíve owned three of the six generations shown in the photo. There is no doubt at all Iíll own a 4th generation. I think it gorgeous. The whole car looks smooth and flowing although Iím not sure I like the rather large grill. That may have to grow on me some.

The interior flows a lot smoother and it looks very luxurious. The I-Drive controller relocated to the right side of the console will take some getting used to. I didnít particularly like the E60 when it first came out but now Iím on my 2nd one and love it. I think this one will grow beautifully. Like letting the wine breathe.

The looks are dramatically better with larger wheels. This car begs for 19 inch sets.

+1. Also, I found the following quote quite intriguing from the C/D text:

"All three engines will be available with rear- or all-wheel drive."

For those of us in snowy/mountainous areas, the combination of a turbocharged V-8 and AWD is compelling. I'll be in the market for a sedan to replace my Cayman in the second half of 2010, and intend to try both the new 5 and the 7 with xDrive.

I dislike the taillights. I don't hate the headlights, but they're bland, and I loved the E60 headlights. My biggest problem is the "folded over" crease of the beltline. That was always my least favorite thing about the E90.

I like that the center stack is angled to the driver. I like that a raised dash has replaced the "double hump." I dislike that the bar of leather trim flanking one side of the gearshift area has been moved from passenger to driver side.

Very very much prefer the E60 exterior to the F10 exterior, slightly prefer the F10 interior to the E60 interior.

Definitely agree because a.) this is often true of BMWs, b.) this is REALLY true of the F01, c.) bimmerpost has some videos up in which it looks much better than the static photos

The front end will take a bit of getting used to. The remaining lines are an improvement over the E60.

My first impression:

The front is more subtle from 7. Healights are like a 3.

The side profile looks really like a stretch out 3.

Its frikkin gorgeous. Best looking BMW sedan in the last..... ever. Just my opinion.
Still a solid looking family sized sport sedan, but with a sleek coupe-athletic-no flab or overstylised embellishments design that we have needed to progress from the last 8years of weird designs.
I want one.

Similar to the new 7, the wheels are killing the car!

Hope the sports package wheels look good!!

Don't get me wrong - this will be my next car.....but:

I think the rear is underwhelming. I like the front, until I realized where the hood line ended. Looks kind of strange.

The interior looks fabulous. Looks like they finally moved the cup holders.

That photo of the different generations of 5's is awesome. Kind of strange that the E60 doesn't have a moon roof though - I didn't think they even made them without one

Great photos, can't wait to own one!

It's been a while since I was on these boards (after having owned several bimmers including various 3, 5 and 7 series). I am finally excited about BMW designs again (...couldn't warm up to the Bangle-era designs, revolutionary as they were).

I'm in an '09 GTI hot hatch for now (also owned many VW's and this is a fun little "transition" vehicle).

However, I have to agree about the hood line where it ends in the front (above the Roundel). The line is just too obvious (almost looks like hood paint protection film was applied but with a much more noticable line). I can't help but feel that previous hoods like on the E39 and E60 look more fluid. I hope they change that but won't hold my breath. Not a deal breaker, but I think it kind of messes up a nice design a little bit.

Gorgeous exterior, resembles the 7 but better proportions. The interior is rather conservative, quite similar to the E60's; my only concern is affordability, given the weakening dollar vs. Euro, it could be much more costly once it becomes generally available.

I LOVE it

Anyone deciding wether to spring for e60 right now, or wait, it think the choice is very clear!!

This also makes the new 7er less inticing!

clearly designers listened

to those "diehards" who felt that the former version (is it E39?) was better looking than the E60 they got their revenge. I think it is obvious that the design team went towards a more conservative, "traditional" BMW look. I like what i see in pics although the front is not very inspiring. the back is great, i think they hit a home run there. from the side the car looks very sharp. i am hoping in person it looks even better. count me in. not for a couple of model years though. let them work out the kinks!

SO damn beautiful. One of these will definitely replace my X5 at some point. It needs to stay debadged though!

It does have a lot of styling cues from the new 7. I am VERY thankful that does not include the grossly oversized kidneys that are on the new 7.

Overall the styling is pretty vanilla. BMW was very careful not to offend anyone this time around.

This car looks like a 3 series. Gone is the great design of the e60 that distinguished the 5 series from every toyota, lexus, and honda on the road. Chris Bangle may have screwed up the 7 series, but IMHO the e60 was a masterpiece. The interior of the F10 is awesome though. I agree the idrive controller may be hard to access.
