Problem with Towbar wiring

My X5 E53 did not have a towbar fitted, but I got one in the classifieds.(South Africa)

I had it installed, but they could not get the wiring sorted. The cable plugs into the socket inside the car( looks like a 13 socket) and have a adapter next to the towbar with a 7 socket plug. Do I need a module installed in the car to get it to work?

You will need BMW to do the wiring connection to the CAS system. Otherwise you risk all sort of electrical faults if not connected properly.

Mein Auto: 98 740iL - Tweaked a bit
I wired in a $30 Module Master wiring harness myself that I got on eBay, took about 45 minutes. Let me know if you need more information....and you don't need to goto the BMW stealership for this either.

I would like some help.
I am staying in a rural area in South Africa and the closest dealership is 120 km (60 miles) away

If you can get mail, you can get the same wiring harness I did. You don't need the dealership at all for this.
