My current project, Pics
Hey guys, I am very new to the site, and also to BMW's. I just recently recieved this car for free from a family friend. It is a 1984 318i. It was bought in Germany brand new in '84 and then shipped to the U.S. where I have it now. It has the M10 Fuel injected motor.
There is a few things that I want to adress of the back as far as modification wise, but I will have to take things slowly though. I have replaced the water pump, all of the radiator hoses, new thermostat, new plugs, new wires, new cap and rotor, new fuel pump, I will be purchasing a mishimoto aluminum radiator made for a S14 but will work fine in my car. I have also swapped out the stock rear drums for a set of discs off a '91 325i. My car already came with a 3.91 LSD from the factory. The interior is in very good condition beside the two fronts seats that were in terrible condition. So I threw them away and bought new Corbeau Forza seats, I will be purchasing new harnesses for them as well. Here are a few pics. My Just installed FL front end on my PFL car. (w/ellipsoid headlights) ![]() ![]() Just working on the back, all thats left is to clean up my endcaps with bondo ![]() Just installed my seats ![]() Getting rid of the old DB bumpers, so ugly! ![]() Look how trashed my old valence was! ![]() Pic of the interior ![]() also installed a OEM iS spolier

![]() This e30 is now being parted out. NO body panels are for sale, bumpers/fenders/hood/mirrors/valance or front turn signals. Everything else is up for grabs. Euro grills/cluster are sold, suspension/brakes/LSD/rear tails are already spoken for. |

I thought he had a 318iS, well my bad. I have a few e30 friends that I play with in H3 and got him and someone else mixed up.

Quite nice to have the history and direct connection to the vehicle pick up, history and now in your hands. The seats are interesting.

unfortunately it might not ever leave the 325i that it currently resides in...

Jeezum cripes, all this over some seats? I totally agree with you First Time, much better than having some old torn up ones. What kind of driving have you got planned for the car?

Take it from someone who has some sun beat seats in his car, those seats are an improvement. Everyone should be able to appreciate any of the fine autos BMW has put out.(4 cyl included) Its not always all about going fast boys

Well its been a long while since i have updated this thread about my car. I did get around to fixing/replacing little things here and there that desperately needed attention and eventually got the car running. However when i took it around the block, it would hesitate and sort of miss up until about 2500rpm then it would accelerate normally. Pissed me off! So i started to try and track down what could be causing the problem.
While in the bay, i knew that there was caked on oil everywhere! And i do mean everywhere. How disgusting, so it started off with me just cleaning one wheel well to try and tidy things up, but then one thing led to another and now i have pulled the intake manifold off, pulled off all the accessory pumps and other misc things here and there. I swear the deeper i get into it the more stuff i find that is leaking or just plain old and brittle. The PO didnt take care of the car very well. So my list at pelican parts has grown from a few items to many items with the bill well over a grand now. At the rate im going, i might end up doing a who rebuild as steve is doing now on his 325i. I know you guys might wonder why im going through all the trouble for the lowly M10. Honestly, i just want to try and bring the car back as close to its original state as possible. So i can just DD it for awhile until i can save up some more money for future plans with it. I hate driving half working/sloppy looking cars in the first place. So here is my chance to "freshen" it up a bit. Im just replacing every seal and gasket i come across. Also some sensors have seen better days as well. I will post some pictures of the filth up later tonight. Sent from me, who else? |

I re-painted a few pieces:
Side mirrors ![]() Window trim and door handles ![]() Straightened up my bumper a little and got a used iS lip from the local junkyard for $13! with all new clips from pelican
