X5 4.4l front door won't open from outside

The front door on my X5 won't unlatch from the outside. It appears as if the handle is disengages. The door on the passanger side operates without any problems. I don't thin it is a cold weather issue.

It sounds like the carrier has broke. It supports the leaver action out side and pulls on a cable inside to release the latch. The driver side seems to be the first to go. It's the door that's used the most. Go on line and fine REALOEM. This will show you what the part looks like and the part number. Hope this helps.

You probably need to replace the driver side handle carrier (part#51218243615). I had the same problem a couple of months ago. I got it from Turner for $90 shipped.

same thing here on a 2001 X5 I am selling and had to have it repaired quick. the local body shop guys got it done for $ 150/ in an afternoon.

Yep, my 02 X5 carrier had to be replaced this summer also.

Does anybody know if there is a difference between Genuine BMW parts and URO parts for the Outside Door handle carrier?

Yep my x5 2001 passenger door though, sometimes it works but mostly it doesnt..the lock doesnt always go up and down, but the handle works.
