This seasons first episode?
3 Kings Schtick? (On mobile phone atm, can't follow your link)

Did James actually do that head gasket himself?

I wonder if that was the 1.8 or 1.9 he had? (Maybe mistaken)
I believe I read the 1.9 model had great handling, which he didn't complain about.

Either way, he wasn't pleased. And how in the hell do they always find such nice cars for cheap?

As I've got a metallic Black 2.2 Z3 6 Cyl my mates now think it's just like and as bad and slow as the 4 cyl auto box one he had. Wish he had used any of the 6 cyl models and we may have got better press out of it. I've owned both and the smaller ones are ok but they don't really compare! Pete, North Wales UK.

Thanks for positing this Seth... Im a huge TG fan and these three usually leave me in stitches.

Do wished James had gotten a five speed though,... did you see how the cars slammed when driving off the plane.

And are the automatics really that bad?

Well his motor didn't have the push to make the transissions smooth.
But the 4 banger and autobox are a deadly combo.

I had no idea the automatics in the 96's were that bad, he shouldve at least went for the 5spd or a good slushbox 6cyl. He had already dipped in 5grand acording to what he said. Shocked that he actually fixed the head gasket on his own, wonder how water got in the cylinder.... in the middle of the desert.

When you blow your head gasket it allows permeation between your engine coolant and your motor oil.

Very bad.

Top Gear Z3 4 cyl. automatic ---- Bad idea.

First of all : I love Top Gear in all its absurd ways.

But I must say they could have gotten a better Z3 model than the one they used.
On the other hand seeing how they abused it, when "improving" it, I'm glad they got rid of a bad one for us !

The amount of water in the cylinder shown doesn't necessarily mean anything, since they are prone to exaggerate quite a lot and spent a lot of time on the scripts for the show.
It may be public television but that doesn't stop them from making popular TV.
And judging by the reactions they achieved their goal of making headlines.

All in all not one of their best specials in my opinion, but it gets harder and harder to come up with new ideas after so many years, right ?

They are starting to feel a bit scipted.
I thought this episode was only second to their Vietnam escapades.
I'll bet Jeremy is a terror to work with. He was good in the Italian Job, and they were awful in the Apocolypse.
But that still doesn't mean they don't all need each other.

Additionally: Any amount of water in your cylinders is a deadly dose to functionality.
