There is a set of new spy shots of the next generation F30 335i doing laps at the Nürburgring. With production coming in the not too distant future (November 2011), it looks like BMW is taking to the ring once again to see what the next generation 3 series has in terms of performance. Here are the pictures for your enjoyment! Source: F30Driver.com Follow our full F30 3 Series coverage at http://www.bimmerfest.com/tag/F30 |

Nice RFTs
The next step in advancing the company's belief in the RFT paradigm is to advance the tire-makers' willingness to offer protocols for safe repair that even BMW's legal team would allow it's service departments to perform. And the tire dealers should offer repair services themselves. That multiple RFTs need to be purchased for a single tire's damage is becoming a rumor that could evolve into an annoyance if it should be true. BMW engineers may indeed be enabling this irritation to flourish. What a shame.

I agree. A major problem with run flats is that minor repairable problems necessitate total replacement. On my 550i the tires are over $420 installed. There has to be way for BMW to join the rest of the world and come up with standards for repairing RFT tires with fixable issues. Independent tire dealers repair RFT routinely. I do not understand why BMW will only consider tire replacement.

And some tire dealers themselves, like Bridgestone, won't touch a repair request. I would think that tire makers who want to compete more effectively in the growing RFT market would advance a repair service as part of the high (read: over-) priced cost to the consumer at time of purchase. Or bundle a repair option that, at a reasonable price-point, could be contractually attached to the life of the tire.
