Trunk won't open

All of a sudden my trunk won't open unless I "help" it with my hand as I push any of the three buttons. And before anyone asks, no the lockout switch in the console is not on.

It's almost as though the extra "oomph" of the switch/solenoid/? isn't there to set the trunk in motion. When I just give a gentle nudge after pressing a button, the trunk opens all the way up on it's own and stays there. Otherwise, it just starts to open (1/8") and then closes again. Nothing jamming the mechanisms either.

Might be low on hydraulic fluid. There is a thread somewhere on here about this issue.

Hmmm....worthy of a look. I know the reservoir is in the trunk pass side well. I'll check it out. I just figured since the trunk is opening, and holding that the fluid would be ok.

Thanks!

The physics of this would suggest that the most hydraulic pressure is needed to lift the trunk when the trunk lid is parallel to the ground. I would expect that if the fluid was low that what you are experiencing should be the first sign of a problem. Definitely worth a check.

Open your center console and you will see a switch in there next to the cd holder.

Had the same issue:
Your hydraulic is ok level.
Replace two spring struts asap, bc it will eventually kill you hydraulic shock
