Battery Life While Storing My 335I

I normally hook a Battery Tender to my battery during storage but this may not be an option this time. Anyone have some idea as to whether my battery will last for 6-8 weeks with no Battery Tender hooked up? Thanks all.

Thanks for the input, no cold winters on the central coast of CA.

If it's anything like the F10, I'd go for the battery tender. There have been a lot of issues with batteries being run down.

Why is it not an option for you this time?

Sold the house, the new one is not completed so the tender is not an option this time as there are no public storage sites with electrical outlets in the San Luis Obispo area that I can find. Probably best to disconnect the negative battery lead I suppose.

Disconnecting the battery requires a dealer visit to register the battery when reconnecting.

Maybe you could start it after 4 weeks and top off the charge?

A new battery requires registration, but where do you get that a simple disconnect would require registration?

OP>> You might look into one of those solar battery maintainer gadgets. Many people use them on motor homes in storage.

Haven't had any need to do this my self but a reading of the F10 forum talks of this being quite a different set up with a much more expensive AGM battery that is sensitive to losing charge and low voltage error codes if the car is driven less than 10 miles or so a day with the "regenerative braking" and efficient dynamics" complicating life.

Seems to me like getting a new battery would be similar to disconnecting and reconnecting the old one. I'd call my dealer before I disconnected the battery to be on the safe side.

My car was unused for almost six months. I just disconnected the battery. When I re-connected it it fired right up. I did then go for a drive to give it some more juice.
