Studdering during 1st gear acceleration...tracking control?

So I was doing some work on my E46 M3 and had disconnected the battery. When I put everything back together, the car is studdering during acceleration in first gear. Their is a light that would flash during my acceleration (it's the triangle light with the arrow going around it...i think it's the traction control light). I am assuming that the car thinks its slipping while I am accelerating in first gear and kicks in the traction control for some reason. Am I supposed to do something after the battery has been disconnected/reconnected? This only happens in first gear. Help!!
