Size of the split fold down back seat opening?

This might be a strange question. If you have an F30 with split fold down back seat, what's the height and width of that opening?

Thanks

Large. Almost as large as the seat backs themselves.

Sounds like no hope to squeeze in a 6 foot kayak? It's about a foot and half tall.

I just measured the dimensions of the opening made by the split fold down seats on my F30, and it's as wide as the trunk of course (at around 38-39 inches), and about 15.5 inches tall. What I'd be more concerned about though is the length of your kayak, which is longer than the extra length you get by folding the seats down if you measured straight from the trunk to the seats (about 68 inches). If you put the kayak in at an angle though, it will probably work.

Thanks, probably not going to fit, will have to get roof rack. I'm on a inflatable now, getting a hard shell is more like a lifestyle change than anything else.

If you really want to get it in laying the front passenger seat all the way back might allow it to fit all the way to the dash/windshield.

A hard shell kayak is quite bulky, so even the slightest angle in the front seat will cause problem in either the back seat or trunk opening.

So looks like it has to go on roof rack where it really belongs. I actually already bought a roof bar for my 528. But it clam onto the door frame and makes the window rubber seals stick out. Looks like any rain or melting snow can easily seep in from there. So I never installed it. I think on 3s the roof bar screwed somewhere on the rain gutter.

Thanks. Turned the shortest hard shell kayak that can keep an adult afloat is like 6' long. So unless the front passenger seat fold flat like a Prius, it won't go inside.
