95 525I need help picking out muffler!

Hello Bimmer Fest, I have a 95 525i that I would like to change the exhaust system on! I'm looking for a nice drone at ideal and some more performance at take off! It still has factory system on it and. I'm woundering if I should just replace the muffler or muffler and cat..? If you could help me figure out a nice system that would be great! Thanks vmgjr77

Try the Billy Boat from Bave auto. DINAN makes a good one as well.

How it sounds is relitive to the guy that hears it. I just installed a new exhaust on mine. It is loud LOL but much deeper growl than the weed whacker sound of the hondas out there...

What I did was install a Magnaflow free flow cat and a duel muffler. I will keep that set up for a while.

I plan on saving the pennies and going with the one in the pic (Billy Boat). There is also the Remus but it is about 1700 bucks... There are many posts here on exhaust systems including sound clips.

The exhaust system on these cars won't benifit from any upgrades. You're wasting your $$ replacing cats if the stock ones are still good. Unless you do mods to the engine. Opening up the exhaust is t going to do crap. It can actually have the opposite effect. Sorry.
Same goes for the intake side as well. These are very well thought out cars and don't get the power gains Hondas, Soobz, ect do from moding exhaust and intake.
If you want sound then run straight pipes or delete either the front silencer or rear muffler.

The upgrade I was seeking was NOISE.



1)Remove muffler
2)Fab up a couple pipes

Back when I had a 928 we called this a rear muffler bypass (RMB). I like it in this application too.

I am trying to save for another setup. I need to tone it down just a bit.
