Search for "dead pixel" The problem is bad contacts between the signal ribbon and the display. You have 3 options:
1. You can try BMWNA for a "Good Will" repair. If you're a regular customer to your local BMW $tealers, they might offer 100% part and you cover the labor of the installation. In my case, they only offer 50% since I have never bring my BMWs to the $tealer for service before. It came out to about $600 with labor. So I went with option 3. 2. There are companies/individuals such as VODO Repair, germanautotech ... offer the repair service http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum....php?t=1871104 3. Bought the ribbon and replace it yourself if you're handy. It's a meticulous work that also require drilling holes in the cluster under the gauge. There are DIYs on the web. GL
