New to BMW E38
good day all. I thought I might check in here before joining the world of BMW. I am seriously looking at an E38 that has been meticulously maintained by its present owner.
It has 83K on the clock, has new headgaskets, brakes, head liner, power steering hoses, etc. He is asking 8K for it, and Im trying to decide if its worth it? It does have the cold weather pack as well. The car is beautiful, and I would love to own a 7, just not sure its worth the risk given its reputation. thanks for any help. |

What reputation? Smooth, quiet, powerful? Just keep the servicing up to book and use genuine parts.

The current owner has been meticulous about the car. I was just wondering if his price was fair? It's not expensive to buy, but the maintenance scares me.

If you want a good looking, fun to drive, big body car, get a E38. I have 160000 on mine its an 2000. It is my 14th car. I will never buy anything else. Don't listen to what people say about maintenance I do everything my self because of lack of money. With a good manual, scanner some common sense anything is possible. Buy the car you won't regret it

I'm with First740i. If you are going to DIY then get a GOOD manual and take lots of photos as you go. Mine gets 2 services in 3 years (garage queen) and sup oil changes. As for price it's worth exactly what you are prepared to pay. Here (in Australia) they cost a kings ransom; you guys get them as gifts. Don't let a good one go for the sake of a few bucks - they last and last... 83k? - nicely run in......

I'm not a DIY. But I would have to learn how to be. Im also looking at a Subaru Legacy GT wagon ltd, and a 540 wagon. E39
