Should I buy this 528i?
I've found a local listing for a 528i with 167k miles on it. year is unknown but I would say its pre-facelift. It has updated headlights and taillights though. The guy is asking $2000 because "the drivers side window quit working" and the "engine overheats". I've done some research and it looks to me like I could spend about $1500 on parts, do the work myself, and sell the car for around 4500 and come out on top. My concern is that if the engine isnt overheating because of the coolant system (which is what i was going to overhaul), or if the overheating has caused damage to the engine. What do yall think?
edit: here is the listing. I call dibs on it haha - http://charlotte.craigslist.org/cto/3232387890.html

Should have cooling system pressure tested with engine hot before you buy. Harbor freight has a tester for ~$80.

All 528i are pre-facelift. I'm not sure if the M52 and M52TU suffer the same damage when overheating like the M54 does. It might worth a shot.

The M52 is iron block so at worst, it will need a new head. Definitely get a compression and leakdown test.

Yeah I was definitely planning on getting a pre-purchase inspection done from a local mechanic. I'm actually really excited about this if it all comes together right.
