transmission probelm

I am in trouble. I have a 93' 525I that I purchased in March. I just replaced the transmission. I am getting a transmission porgram reading on the dash. It will go into 1st gear and backwards fine but it will stall on 2nd, 3rd ect. Do I need to get it replaced or is it a such thing as getting the transmission programmed? I have been told that and unfortunately after I got it done my mechanic tells me he doesnt know...........please help.

Try clearing all of your error codes and restarting the car. Do this via the stomp test or by unplugging the wiring bus from the top of your ecu (i.e. unplugging your ecu) for around 5 minutes, switching your key to position 2, then switching off your ignition and reconnecting the ecu. Start the car and drive it gently, and attempt to take it through all of the gear changes from 1-5 over a 15 minute drive. See if the problem returns. Report your results here, and lets go from there.

Check your throttle position sensor too. Its a little switch next to your throttle body. Unplug it, clean both the switch and the plug with contact cleaner, apply dielectric grease to both and fix it back. Then restart the car and see.
