chugs
I have a 2005 325ic that when I start it in the morning, wants to chug(best desciption) and cough for just a minute, then the idle goes up to about 17-1800 rpm. After just a moment it settles down to it's normal idle and runs fine and starts fine for the rest of the day. I'm thinking maybe mass air sensor but I'm open for any thoughts at this point.

Mine does the same thing( 01 330ci) and I have no cel. It deffinatly varies with the temp. I'm pretty sure its a vaccum leak but I haven't looked into it yet so I would be curious to hear what you guys have to say.

does it blown any smoke out the the exhaust at initial setup when it chugs?? Could be your oil seperator. with the car running, open the oil cap slowly. there should be almost no suction when you do this. if you have excess suction like your breaking a seal, that is where I would start
