Mein Auto: 2004 530i
i drive controler stopped working

Hi guys so here is my storey.

i one day got mad and punched the side console (not the idrive knob) unfortunatly the knob has stopped working. i cannot change songs or get in any other menu. I talked to couple of people and they said i will have to change the whole module. I have no idea what its called and would preffer ordering it used. Any help would be appriciated?? btw im in vancouver canada.

Try to reset Idrive by pressing enject and volume buttons at same time.

i tried but its not mechanical problem its the physical. if i bang around it it can change songs for me so ya i need to buy the whole thing unless if some one knows how to actually fix the whole thing?

Have you tried reseating the electrical connectors on the control knob? To me it sounds like you knocked something loose.

Mine did the same thing

Twice now the Idrive and the display controls stop working. Took it to the dealer and they reset the computer and has works ever since. They plan on replacing the computer when I get my next service. The first time it stopped working I just shut the car down and on restart it worked fine. The next time it happened it still would not work on restart.

I guess you should have extended your warranty before you start punching your BMW. How about hit someone or the person that got you mad? Damn Canadians.
