Disa Valve
I currently have a faulty Disa Valve with inoperable flapper. I have also noticed that my gas consumption has increased considerably. Could this high gas consumption problem be a result of the faulty Disa Valve?

Could be. The DISA valve controls the intake manifold. There is a lot of engineering that goes into this part of the engine operation, and if it is failing, it could make the engine work harder. That would decrease your fuel efficiency.

A failed DISA valve will often cause idle problems and low RPM hesitation. Poor fuel economy can also be one of the side effects. Below is a video showing how to remove the unit from an E46, the process is almost identical on the X5, also I have new DISA units available HERE.

I have had the same issue on my X5, The removal and install is about 30 minutes. Two bolts hold the DISA valve in place. One top and One bottom just adjacent from the other.
After replacing mine, I have noticed a considerable change and improvement in acceleration and gas milage!! Mud~ |
