Dash dispaly woes...
Hello Forum!!
I have an '02 530i with a high MID. Suddenly two weeks ago, the back light for the odometer, ext. temp gauge and trip mileage indicator stopped working. All other dash and display lights work. Any ideas, I am stumped! Thanks! - Ironnerd

Simple. There are five bulbs in the lower part of the cluster. A couple of them are burned out. They are special twist-lock units. Replace them all while you're at it. Get them from the dealer, or a well-regarded supplier.
You'll need to remove the cluster. Search here for the instructions.

Click the link below (above the diagram) to get the 11 digit BMW part nbr for item #2...and see the QTY column for the number you need...might as well replace them all if a few have burnt out because they all have been illuminating for the same amount of time...this will prevent having to go back in again if another old bulb burns out.
