New Diesel Emmission Software ?
Had my vehicle in for state inspection and a required vehicle check maintenance reminder , I
was just informed by my CA that they have to keep the vehicle overnight for additional programming for emissions, I just had the update to the EGR valve done about 2 months ago, my vehicle is a March 2011 build, has anyone else had this " updated" software done, Of course they had no real information on what this is. I have had luckily no check engine lights at all in 25k miles of driving.

Same for Me with a 2010
I effectively had the same thing happen on my 2010 (October 2009 Build). I've had it right at a year and had several issues with the diesel emissions shortly after I bought it. (2 CELs and a limp mode situation) in which much of the stuff that was swapped out in last Summer's recall, including the EGR valve were already replaced, so the recall only changed a out a mixer and I think one other thing...
Local BMW shop completed the work and a couple of days later, I got a call from my service advisor indicating that when they turned in the paperwork for the recall, BMWNA requested that they get it back in and get it back on the net to get a SW update before they'd close out the recall. It was definitely a fairly recent SW change, as I'd had all of my SW updated last December when I had some other work done... |

Mine - 2011 MY, June 2010 build.
About a year ago had the EGR replaced + programming but no DEF Mixer. Two weeks ago they told me I also need the DEF Mixer replaced + programming. Mileage dropped by about 1+ mpg . . . currently ~22.5 mpg (avg. speed ~34mph). I have the 3rd row seat and Option 214 tires. On the positive side - recent re-programming did not wipe out my programmable buttons, seat memory, etc. Last edited by RPsX5d; 11-08-2012 at 09:48 AM. |

Received the vehicle back today,
Had SIB 13 01 12 & Program Control Units W/CAS, I asked what this was and never received an answer, I had 5000 miles to go for the next oil service, Do you believe the dealership actually did the oil service and DEF refill as a comp service since I would not have to come back in again ? Repair bill states OIL& OIL FILTER SERVICE CHANGE BUT NOT CURRENTLY DUE.
