2000 BMW 740i

My car is shaking bad when I start it up and when I give it a lil gas it has a winding noise and I have a exhaust smell inside my car please help me

You might want to check the following things. For starters... What is the mileage, does the whining sound like a metal chain dragging? Is the noise just when you start the engine or is it constant? Anyway, you should check the timing chain tensioner (chain slap on start up), timing chain guides (constant metalic whine/sometimes accompanied with a check engine light and vibration), and engine codes (this should be your first check). Although you claim you don't have a CEL, fault codes can indicate a failed or failing part. You should also check for a vacuum leak. Remove the plastic engine cover, start the engine, and spray carb cleaner around the intake, manifold, injectors, etc. A rise or fall in rpm would indicate a leak. Next, is the car emitting white smoke from the exhaust? If it is, you may have a bad OSV. Finally, check your catalytic converters. Clogging can cause the engine to hesitate, vibate excessively, or lack power. Simply unscrew you O2 sensor and see if your problem improves. If you have bad cats, you need to determine if your E38 is 48 state or California legal as the cats are different. Good luck.
