The new to the US BMW X1 will arrive at BMW dealers in the fall of 2012 as a 2013 model year. Get your X1 28i with either sDrive (RWD) or xDrive (AWD) or get the US exclusive I6 N55 powered X1 35i dDrive. |

2014's in March
Since model year 2014's will start production in March, when and where will information about what's changing in the 2014's be found out first? Is it usually someone on here, an auto blog, or do dealers typically get the information first?

It's posted elsewhere on the net too but I found out myself directly as I've been trying to book an ED for April/May and was told it would be a 2014 X1 as 2013 production is ending in February and 2014s will begin in March, but they had no information on what was changing between model years yet and they weren't expecting any details for a couple months. Kind of puts me in a bad spot since their info date estimate is likely since it gives me less than 2 months to book an ED for a 2013 if I don't like something that changed for the 2014s (transmission, engines, options, packages, cost, etc). I'm 5 months out now from when I want to go now, less than 3 months to safely do an ED on a 2013.

You and me both! Planning a May ED with two-three months notice will prove challenging.
I wonder when BMW config will change over to the 2014. Good Luck! |

Saw this article today, but it's talking about the Malaysian market which has their X1's produced in India I believe:
http://www.dashingtimes.com/official...in-early-2013/ However the picture appears to be current X1 with the X-line package with the exception of you don't see the amber turn indicators on the front headlights yet the article mentions the headlights stayed the same. |

The amber is a US only "feature", so the chances that seeing clear instead of amber in the headlight means updated headlights is slim.

Yes, changes will be found here (or a similar place) first. Dealers are the last to know (or care, frankly).

I spoke with BMW NA and they also said the MY 2014 production will start at the beginning of March and that the 'Ordering packets' wiill be sent to dealers in mid January which will also be when orders can be placed.
They also said that the 2014 X1 is showing it will be available for ED and it currently appears to still come out of dealer allocation slots. Lets hope someone can get us information about the options for the MY 2014 X1 before January in case BMW NA changes anything up enough that some of us might want to get a deal on the 2013 before the current promotion ends Jan 2nd. I'd rather not find out mid Jan that options I want are changing or prices are going up enough that I'd be trying book an ED in less than 45 days. |

Do you guys think these changes are world wide, or just for the US?
From Canada, I've got my order ready for a 2013 X1, hoping to order in February, but if things change, my options may get messed up. But curious if changes for 2014 models will be the same for up north. |

Changes for other regious went into effect the last couple months, mostly headlight changes from what I could tell, not sure about options though.
Canada and US should get the same changes I believe as both of these come out of the X1 production line in Germany where other X1's are producted in China. Dealers will be the last to hear what the changes are for options and pricing, and those packets are expected mid january. If people can do some digging and keep their eyes out via google or some sites it could come out any time now what the changes will be. 2014 could bring higher prices, maybe 8 speed on xDrive35, but no one knows anything at all right now. ... Not that I'm seeing, the price of my xDrive35+cold+paddles is still 40015, same as in August.

The X1 is an older design, compared to the X3 or new 3 series so it lacks some options such as lane departure warning and top view cameras. Those kind of options could possibly be added, unless they require too much of a design change..

Haven't found anything yet on 2014 changes, but I did find renders of the ?2015? X1 when it's based on the Countryman chassis. I don't know about you, but I hope this was a design that was or gets thrown out. http://worldscoop.forumpro.fr/t4830-2014-bmw-x1-ii-f46

Yikes, looks like a Honda/Acura. I wanted RWD so buying this generation was a no brainer to me but I like the way the current X1 looks. More like a wagon than an SUV. That render looks more SUVish.

*trolling*
So if anyone wants to see in more detail what the ?2015? X1, based on the Countryman chassis, would look like, here: https://www.google.com/search?q=pont...=lnms&tbm=isch Just swap the front vibe grill for the BMW and change the bumpers and lighting up a bit and they pretty much look the same. The window layouts are almost identical, so is the shortened hood length and the dimensions of the X1 are the same as the pontiac vibe except the vibe is shorter than the current x1, but if bmw takes a few inches off the current X1 length in the new chasis, you basically are driving what the vibe was (And the Toyota Matrix as the vibe and matrix are the exact same car with a different exterior shell). Please BMW, don't turn the X1 into a toy car. Last edited by edx1; 12-18-2012 at 08:30 AM. |

Mixed messages from 3 dealers for 2014 X1 production date
I talked with 3 dealers in SE today and 2 said end of 2013 X1 production was June 2013 and 1 said Feb 2013. I called BMWUSA and they did not know - said to contact dealers.
Anyone know for sure? Thanks. |
