BMW 550i sport 2008- OIL leak
anyone know a good indie mechanic in the Red bank, NJ area .. have a oil leak and dont want to get crushed by BMW dealership

On that side, I think its either the vanos o-ring seal or valve cover gasket. Check under the vanos. If it is leaking just swap it out. One bolt each.

Its just a couple o-ring on each vanos and a 10mm bolt on each. While you're at it, clean the vanos. Your car will thank you and in return it will provide a pleasant drive.

hey bud .. thanks for advice
BMW is telling me its a 7 hour job to take apart everything to get at this Gasket... costing me 1300 .. ugh .. not what i need right now im not too sure what to do ? jon

If it is indeed the vanos or the cylinder head cover gasket, there no reason that you have to bring it to Bmw dealer. Any indy can do this simply for way less. But if you plan on diy may this can help you out http://tis.spaghetticoder.org/s/view.pl?1/07/45/43. Doesn't have 550 but the 545 is pretty similar. GL
