Newby with led issue

Hey guys. Great site here. Just starting with some simple mods. I purchased the Weisslicht led license plate kit from bavauto. Installed one and smelled smoke. I immediately removed it. No blown fuses. Tried the other led in the kit and saw smoke so immediately removed them. Replaced with factory bulbs and no problems. The kit is LEDs on a plate setup unlike other suppliers where they are just led bulb setups. Any ideas. I love the led and am thinking of trying the led bulbs instead. Thanks in advance.

Did the LED come on?

They both work. Hooked them up to a spare battery I have. Could it be when they are set in place the contacts are touching somewhere else in the socket. It's. Almost gotta be something like that??

I had one installed. It lit up but I could smell smoke.

I would send them back. Sounds like something is shorting or the LED is overdrawing.
