valve to the CO2 sensor

I just purchased a 2006 x3 and the service engine light came on...the dealer took it back and stated the codes showed I had two O2 sensors out or almost out. After they have had the car for a day they tell me it wasn't the O2 sensors at all but the valve (CSB valve?) that leads to the o2 sensor that needed replacement. Does this make sense?

Actually, no it doesn't make sense. Could he have said CVV valve? (Crankcase Ventilation Valve). While that is not connected to the O2 sensors, it could among many other things activate the Service Engine light.

That was probably what the salesman meant...there I a disconnect since the dealer is taking care of the issue and dealing with BMW and the auto shop. I am glad the car sales took care of it since I have only had the car about 2 weeks. Thanks for your help!

My experience with car sales people, even at BMW, is they do not know what they are talking about.

I have an 06 x3 and just took mine in for a CVV replacement. Be glad it was under warranty :-)

The dealer provided me with the approx. $350 bill so I am glad they covered I for me....I am sure your bill was not small.

The dealer quoted me $1180 for it, and the Indy shop quoted me $330. When I pick it up today it'll be about $600 instead. Long story. But yeah, $300 is definitely better than anything I would have paid ;-)
