Hi guys & gals. I'm new to Bimmerfest and am very thankful to have a DIY Forum to get information on upkeeping and avoiding expensive dealer repair costs. Yesterday I received the alert message that I have a reverse light malfunction indicating a bad bulb. Has anyone replaced this themselves? I understand it is mounted in the bumper but does it require the bumper to be removed to get to it? Sounds like an expensive repair to have it done. I wonder if it is more trouble than it's worth to just have it replaced by the dealer. Thanks for any info provided.

It is a simple 10 minute job to pull the rear bumper. You need a helper though.
An indie mechanic should charge you 1/2 hour labor max, or you can try it yourself - rear bumper removal instructions.

Thanks Yorgi! I really appreciate you sending the instruction sheet for the bumper removal. It doesn't look to difficult. I will replace both bulbs to save myself the trouble of having to repeat the process if/when the other side goes out. Thanks again.
