problems with reconditioned trans

I have a 2001 X5 3.0 and recently ordered a reconditioned transmission using the VIN number. When I installed the transmission the torque converter seems like it is stuck or binding. The trans will not turn even when trying at the flywheel. I used the alignment bolt for the torque converter. I need help; wondering if there are more than one automatic transmission for this model and year or what might I have done wrong that would cause the binding?
