Took me a while but I finally took the leap of faith and ordered the Active Hybrid 5!

Congrats, but why the AH5?

I ended up being able to get the AH5 and 535i at the same price. I figured why not get a free "one up" over my buddies at work?

Also, I figured I didn't need the extra trunk space and the 2 extra mpg is "kind of" a nice benefit.

Don't forget the extra HP you get while getting slightly better MPG... Good move.

I'd get the side cameras over the lane departure and speed info.

But doesn't it weigh about 300lbs more, thus less agile?

BMW does an excellent job at balancing their weight, with an increase 35HP and 30 LB of torque it probably feels great! OP Make sure you post pics and first impressions when you get it.

Congrats! I noticed you got the Driver Assist Package, you may also want to consider the Driver Assist Plus. This adds the Lane Departure and Speed Limit Info. I use the latter every day as it posts the local speed limit on the HUD and find it very useful esp in certain areas where I know cops like to hang out. I added the Driver Assist Plus last minute and glad I did.

Will do! I'm currently driving a '12 535i while BMW is trying to figure out what's wrong with the Bluetooth on my '13 x3.

I should be able to provide an amateur review/comparison from a lead footed driver.

Congrats, those are rare out here in communist-California where everyone and their mother drives a prius.

People with the AH7 (pre-'13 model) were very very pleased with their purchase, so I'm sure you will too. It slots above a regular 750 and below an Alpina/V12 760 in terms of power, not too shabby!

If the F10 is anything like that, I'm sure you'll enjoy the extra power with nearly no loss in mileage.

I have one and it's definitely not a Prius, though it's not 550 either.

It's a 535 with an added electric engine and batteries although no doubt I am over simplifying... Lol

Electric engine gives you instant power, which make any "performance" hybrid to driver very differently from pure gasoline engine. Feels more like diesel during acceleration - quick extra boost at the beginning (50hp + torque from electric) which goes away with time as gasoline engine gets into power, e.g. During acceleration it start as 535d and ends acceleration as 535i. Some people (who haven't tried diesel can classify it as f*ng rocket due to that extra boost at the low)

ASS is also little bit less annoying as electric engine works as big starter.

Pure electric driving:

At the golf cart speeds (parking lots at the plazas) it predictably drives as golf cart.
At the highway speeds gas engine is always on, unless you put it into Eco pro, but that turns the car into grandma's Buick (if you want Buick it's cheaper to get just Buick and move on), on other settings electric engine works in "boost" mode to accelerate you faster when you need it (before tranny downshifts)

Congrats! I agonised between the AH5 & the 535d but ended up going with the 535d M-Sport due to better rated fuel economy figures (AH5 6.8L/100Km Vs 535d 5.6L/100km combined) & higher torque (400Nm Vs 630Nm) - plus (I must admit) a certain reluctance to buy the "1st" model of a new line. Luv to hear from you after you get it to see how happy you are with it.

Just called my CA and he said vehicle is already in production status, therefore I cannot change the options

Congrats to bolaber! I just got the AH5 and like bolaber said "free upgrade" from 535i to AH5 with all incentives.
