God's Chariot. The E30 was produced primarily from 1982 through 1991. The cabriolet was the one exception which was produced through 1993. |

Water inside car in front foot wells.
So I noticed today after about 4 days of heavy rain that my footwells in the front, both drivers and passenger side, are wet. The drivers side is worse then the passenger. Also water has been leaking into the trunk. I checked the drains in the sun roof, front, and saw that water drained out under the right right away so am assuming they are not clogged. I checked the drains under the passenger vent outside under the front windshield and wipers. It seemed to drain alright, both the elephant vent in the engine bay as well as the drain under the car. Is there a drain under the drivers side vent where the drivers wiper attaches? If so that seemed clogged because no water came out when checked.
Water was found in the battery box in the trunk. I haven't checked the rear sun roof drains, was going to try and snake them from the rear if clogged. So suggestions? Also condensation inside cab and trunk today. Thanks |

well with the weather youve been having, i wouldnt be surprised the the drain were overwhelmed. and the easiest way to get the moisture out, drive around with the ac on. another way, 10gal wet/dry shop vac

Tail light gaskets
Check the tail light gasket that sits between the lens and the bulb holder assembly for the water in your trunk. I had to replace both in my old 318.

Be careful unblocking the sun roof drains. You could knock the tubes off, good idea to clean them out though. If you want to check for boot leaks have one inside the closed boot and one outside with a hose and start from the lower surfaces and work your way up. Take all the affected trim out and dry it fully - it will promote rust if left damp. I had to do my lamp gaskets too.

Check the condition of door and trunk rubber seals. A rubber seal surrounds the outline of each door. If the rubber is hard, cracked or missing water and wind/air will enter.
Many 'Fest members use a product to treat and protect the rubber keeping the seals soft playable and lush. Do a search on door or trunk seals.

Heater core? Maybe too much of a coincidence in light of the heavy rain you mentioned...
