Ok I bought the 2011 not knowing that not buying the adaptor will prevent me from using other features like sending messages to my car from my iPhone or even sending a map direction through google because google switches safari to built in map application which it doesn't recognize sending the directions to my car. Does anyone know of a way to sed messages and direction to my iPhone please??

Not sure what you are trying to do. But, You can go directly to Google Maps via Safari, as opposed to the new Apple maps app. From google maps click share, and send to car, Choose BMW enter your email that you used to set up BMW assist, and voila. Can also do from any computer, tablet, etc. Your phone does not need to be connected.
You do not have to pay for the extra BMW Assist in order to use this function.

Adapter only for antenna boost and video out.

Not needed for anything else.

That was a long sentence.

My BMW Remote app will do the "Send To Car" Google maps destinations directly from your iPhone to your car.

The app is at the iPhone App Store and it is free.

And it is all pretty useless.
