Exclamation 99 740i Sport Engine Failsafe Prog

I bought this car a few weeks ago, i literally pay the guy and get 10 minutes down I 75 in the middle of mid day Atlanta traffic and entire electrical system shuts down.. So, obviously a new battery and alternator was a must, prior to putting the new alternator in i was getting a "Trans Failsafe Prog". Naturally i thought the new battery and alternator would soothe my new ride's heart stopping demands.. After my local "BMW specialist" installed the new battery and alternator (and i mean RIGHT AFTER the new parts were installed) I am immediately greeted with "Engine Failsafe Prog", the throttle completely gone.. revs up to around 1800 RPM and back to 0, just back and forth back and forth... I need some sound solid advice on what to do and what to look for, its starting to feel like my dream car has became a nightmare. HELP. Thanks

I hate to say this, but I will anyway. If you havent had the car that long, <30days you are protected by the lemon law. You need to take that $hit back and get your money back.

If you want to repair it, you'll need to start diagnosing, starting with the error messages you're getting:

- How to diagnose the BMW engine failsafe prog cluster error message (1) (2) (3) (4)
- How people tested & resolved transmission "Trans Failsafe Program", aka "Limp Mode" (1) (2) (3) (4) (5) (6) (7) (8) (9) (10) (11) (12) (13) (14) (15) (16)

ok i ran the OBDII and cleared the initial codes that it gave me, after driving around 50 miles or so i ran the test once more and received these codes: P0120 Throttle/pedal position sensor A circuit, P1519 A camshaft actuator bank 1, P1340 Multiple Cylinder Misfire during start... Funny thing is after deleting the initial codes i received the "Engine FailSafe Prog" has not returned. I was recieving the Engine failsafe prog without fail every morning when I would start the car for the first time that day. BTW i am in southeast TN and the current morning temperatures have been in the low 30's.. Dont know if that is a factor to consider or not.. Hell thats why im here. My E38 is basically in the Bimmerfest community's hands, considering majority of my repairs are going to HAVE to be done in my shop. Thanks, any and all advice good or bad is welcome.
