Halogen upgrades - 2009 328i

Did a search on Halogen head light (high and low beam) upgrades and all threads seem to be on Halogen to Xenon conversions.

I need to replace a low beam halogen and wondered if anyone has suggestions, preferrably through actual experience, on a halogen bulb upgrade over the BMW OEM's?

Assuming this is a US-spec E90 (sedan), you're looking for a 55W H7 bulb... http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...69&hg=63&fg=05 (item no. 1).

If by "halogen bulb upgrade" you mean a whiter color temp, then some specific suggestions I have are:

MTEC H7 Super White
PIAA H7 Xtreme White Plus
Bimmian Xenesis H7 Tru-Match Xenon White
Hoen H7 Xenonmatch

I've switched halogen headlights from DOT headlights to E-code headlights on other cars.

I considered not ordering the BMW with Xenons and switching to E-codes afterward, but it would have cost me about the same as just ordering the Xenons. Plus it was easier. The DOT Xenon beam pattern isn't too different from the E-code pattern.

I recently replaced the headlights on my wife's Rav4 with Sylvania (Osram) Silverstar ZXE. While they have a blue coating they are almost white in color (to my eyes anyway) and more important, my wife noticed a difference in perceived output. I started with the high beams and she insisted I replace the lows too.

She hates driving at night and for her to say she can see better with these bulbs is a good reccomendation. Another good thing, you can pick them up at the local auto parts store. I paid $67 (including tax) for each pair.

Thanks all. I picked up a pair of Sylvania Silverstars for $33. Noticeable improvement (whiter, wider and a more range) than the OEMs. I'm probably going to replace the working OEM bulb on the other side as well as the improvement is that noticeable.

Any new bulb by the major manufacturers will look brighter because it is brighter than a used bulb. Also recent Consumer Reports article pretty much states you don't see farther but some bulbs are brighter than the stock bulbs. I ran these

which were a great deal brighter in halogen housings and proved to be long life as well but not cheap at all. You had to remove one lug to get them to fit properly to the connector.
Still operating in the 98 Avalon we sold some time ago to a friend...

On previous cars I have been very satisfied with Silverstar Ultras.

you need H7 for low beam and H7 for high beams on all E90 LCI's with halogen headlights, but your angel eyes are LED.
