Hello from alaska!
I recently bought a 2001 325xi wagon with 140k miles, previous owner seemed to take care of it extremely well. The only issue i have found is that while sitting the car smells of oil and the only spot i see oil is on the intake side on the side of the intake side, very hard are to see while the intake assembly is in place. I was thinking it could be the valve cover gasket but at the angle the engine is leaning it seems like it would be more prone to leaking on the exhaust side. ill know more tomorrow when i change the oil and look into it deeper. is there anything on the intake side that is common to leak besides the VCG?
anyway, great forum full of resources! thanks for any info. |

Quite often the oil filter housing gasket leaks. It's on the intake side.
Welcome to the fest. Tourings rule.

Basically there are two possibles there. OFHG and the vanos oil line.
Yes we love Alaska, but next time post the subject of your question in the title so you'll better get people who know about your issue. |
