Tracking the order

I just placed an order for a 2013 535i space gray/cinnamon. The dealer gave me the production number. However, when I sign in to bmwusa website there is a 535i xdrive which is black on black. I did not order an xdrive and the car that ordered is not black. When mentioned, the dealer says that it is normal and BMW does that for security purposes. Is this true? Anyone experienced anything similar?

They probably used one of their allocation units and reconfigured it... Until the production of the car starts, it'll likely show that way (or at least for a few days). It should switch to the right car, and right color once the production starts.

Mine did the same (showed as Black/Black), and then suddenly switched to Imperial Blue/Oyster (which I actually did order). Even then, there may be little things here and there which are not 100% accurate. The best thing to look at for accuracy is the printout from the dealer showing all options on the vehicle...

+1. It has nothing to do with "security". And, ask your dealer to email you weekly updates from their internal system -- that will give you the most up to date information about the progress of your car, much more timely than the BMW website or phone status line. They know exactly where your car is each step of the way, eventually the ship it got on, etc. There is absolutely no mystery about it, and don't accept any BS answers from your SA.

Will do. I was under the false impression that their online system is accurate and up to date all the time, since they have been bragging about that all the time. I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Thanks.

I asked them to send me updates and they said they'll do but at their incompetence level, I highly doubt it.

How many weeks did it take to receive your car Hufington?

The dealer initially told me 8 weeks and then reduced it to 6 weeks. Just curious if you received yours close to the time frame they gave.

I am still waiting.
It has been exactly 4 weeks since I've ordered and as of today, BMW told me that the car is in the paintshop and the production date is Jan 29 in their system. The rep told me that they have received a much higher number of orders by the end of December in comparison to other months and it may take longer to have the car delivered than the initial 6-8 weeks that I have been told by the dealer.

Hang in there, I'm still waiting for mine too. Put my order in on Dec. 22nd, received a production number on Jan. 5th, production started on the 9th and completed on the 17th. But as of now it is at the port of exit. Hoping for notification that it has been loaded, but haven't heard anything as of yet. I ordered through Bloomfield BMW, what about you?

I ordered thru Bloomfield as well. Received the prod # on 12/27. Bloomfield does not know anything and the online system shows another vehicle saying the order is documented. The BMW phoneline told me that the prod date is 1/29 and the car is in the paintshop as of today. They wouldn't tell me how long it takes from the end of prod to the dealer.

My car has been I processing for over 3 weeks and has not started production yet. My CA told me the plant closes for a few weeks during late Dec and early Jan. So it's going into production in about a week.

Confirmed with the W&W site that my car is on the "BOHEME." The info. was updated after one day of being on the vessel; needless to say, but the mybmw site hasn't been updated.

If it is on the "Boheme" I'd imagine you can get confirmation from the W&W site as I did and maybe I"ll see you at Bloomfield. The Boheme is already at its first stop in Zeebrugge. (I need the weekend, so I'm not at a computer watching this.)

Otherwise it looks like it will be on the "Manon" leaving on 2/5 and arriving on 2/21.

If my car was in 182 on 1/31, do you think given your experience that it can make the Manon in time?

I think the hardest wait will be the night before I am scheduled to pick up the car. I've already resigned myself to taking NyQuil.

Sweet! Mine is just a few days ahead of yours on the Figaro. I was watching the Boheme because I wasn't sure if mine would make it onto the Figaro.

My sales advisor sends me weekly updates by taking a snapshot of her screen. It is similar to what was posted a few posts above.

Well, Bloomfield BMW gives you nothing!! Although the CA promised to send weekly updates, he never did despite my phone calls and emails. I did not receive one status update since I ordered the car. My BMW site was showing a black car instead of the space gray car that I ordered since the first day!! I contacted BMW and received all necessary info from them on the phone. After hunting down the two sales people at Bloomfield I could get the VIN number after 5 weeks!
If the deal was not that sweet, I would have cancelled the order and gone to another dealer.
But they sure lost my business after I take delivery of this car. No more cars from them and definitely no service at their facility. It is the worst car buying experience that I have ever had so far. Terrible for a $60K+ car.
The above info sounds and looks like from a scifi movie after dealing with Bloomfield BMW.
