2013 or 2014 335 MSport
After a short while with Audi I am proudly returning to BMW. I am getting a 335MSport, 6MT, DHP, 19" etc...
Now if ordered I am told it will take roughly 10-12 weeks to get the car as there are, "few 335's" allocated right now. In your opinions, is it worth ordering new in July to ensure a 2014 and any changes that may go along with it? So much talk of updated nav and potential engine changes gives me pause. Really welcome the advice. TY |

My personal take on this is: get it while it's hot! And... 335i certainly is right now. The car is already refined and so technologically advanced it will take you a good month to learn and get used to all it has to offer. The N55

There will ALWAYS be something else and something new around the corner. I know people who spend most of their lives waiting because the next thing is going to be even better (not saying you would but it's easy to take it to the extreme in today's world where information and predictions about the near and far future are so easily accessible). I don't like to debate. I like to drive! - hey, maybe I should put this into my signature....

I tend to agree. You'll always be waiting for what's around the corner. If you place your order on July - you'll probably wait about 8 weeks at least anyway so you're talking about waiting really about 8 months from now. LCI changes for 2014 may come with a bump up in price as well. I'm sure they'll add a few things and make them standard. I guess the biggest question is if they will upgrade the engine.

Thanks
I hear what your saying and agree but would honestly be disappointed if the engine were upgraded and I had the car for 4 months...

Then you answered your own question. If you will be disappointed with a potential engine upgrade then go ahead and wait. You can always mod/chip your n55 as well don't forget for what is likely below the bump in base price for the 2014 model year.

Maybe I do wait then. Although I don't think price will be an issue as they seem to change price with the calendar year and not the model year.

Nope. The price goes up with the new model year, too. Count on it.

If you're going to wait, you should wait til you can personally check out the car (not just 'til they allow customers to order 2014s). E.g. in 2010 BMW gutted the sound system w/o telling anyone and then there was an uproar.

I am still ordering soon anyway. I just can't see them doing that this time around; especially since MPG is such a major focus now. Why do you think they dropped the 328 from a 6 to a 4???? |

Then I guess that's your answer. I think you need to wait and see.

They didn't say anything about 10-12 weeks though... I expect to order as early as tomorrow. |

2014 F30s will probably get the new Navigation, if that is something you're considering.

A substantial update to the iDrive/Nav system:
http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=621725 http://www.wired.com/autopia/2012/05/bmw-idrive-4x/ F30 ActiveHybrid, and all 5-series and 7-series built after June 2012 already have it. So, you could try it out/see it at your local dealer. |

No, not just software. It's a substantial hardware update, a truly "all new" system.
New Nav (known as HU_NBT) provides: - Intel processor 1.3Ghz (vs Renesas 600Mhz) - 1GB RAM (vs 512Mb) - 8GB flash (vs 512Mb) - Nvidia graphics (probably Tegra 3) (vs Fujitsu) - 200GB hard drive (vs 80Gb) - Integrated combox - 3G cell SIM card for car communications Also, substantially improved traffic: http://www.inrix.com/pressrelease.asp?ID=158 Last edited by SamS; 01-10-2013 at 06:35 AM. |

Personally I hope the 2014 M Sport will offer additional exterior colors and interior leather colors.

That would be more likely when they do the LCI in MY2016.

Interesting point. My E90 lease is up May '14 and I was hoping to lease an F30 around that time. My plan was to actually wait until May '14 to place the order, thus extending my current lease a couple of months so I could get a model year '15 with the hopes that it would be an LCI year. Probably a year to early - wish I could extend my lease an extra year!

I would not wait. I ordered my 335i Xdrive M Sport w/ 19" last July and finally arrived Nov 8 '12.
