Need MAC /osx help!

I'm still getting used to my MAC and one thing that is driving me NUTS is that I can't double click on a picture in a folder and then click an arrow key (or any other key for that matter) and view the next image in the folder. Does anyone know a way to set this up?

Select the images, or select all the images in the folder. Right click to bring up the pop-up menu. Choose 'Quick look X items". Click on arrows on top of window, or click on the "arranger" next to the arrows to see all the images

Or

Click on the "Cover flow" icon on the window title bar of the folder....that might be more what you want

Select one image, Hit space bar. Gives you "quick view." Then use arrows to go up and down
