Identify this part?

Newb question of the day.

This was found on the street near the end of our driveway. I suppose it could be anybody's, because the condition of the roads in our area has been lousy for the last few weeks (thick, irregular ice patches and chunks are plentiful) but I imagine it is likely to be from my '02 530i, which has less ground clearance than most of the vehicles around here.

I neglected to put a ruler next to it for scale; it's about 7 inches long.

If its from your car...something that size should have either a 7 or 11 digit BMW part nbr on it...or at the least the BMW acronym or Roundel. If it does have the part nbr on it you can look it up at

Thanks all. No part number or logo of any kind on it. Probably not from my car, I guess.
