E30 (1982 - 1993)
God's Chariot. The E30 was produced primarily from 1982 through 1991. The cabriolet was the one exception which was produced through 1993. |

theres two plugs on one of the sides of the tranny (cant remember), bottom one drains, top one fills. youll have to check to see what tranny you have since some take different fluid. theres a tag near the front that has the info.
once you got the fluid and drained out the old, put the bottom plug in and fill the top one until fluid starts coming out. then put upper plug in and your done

Thread tape on the plug to ensure no leaks.

I thought manual BMW never require a tranny fluid change, the manual says it lasts a life time. What are some symptoms of this needing to be done?

the newer cars are a dealer only service on the trannies. they use a machine that attaches to one of the cooler lines then the other to the radiator and it flushes out the fluid. but thats mainly on autos

on the tag within the driver door, there will be the production date at the upper right hand corner (from sticker writing) itll be the month number/year. 86 was a split year. pre5/86 had the older tranny style, post6/86 had the newer tranny
