F10 Base stereo (6 speakers) how bad is the EQ curve?

Ok So I have all my kit ready to go in,

JBL GTO 5EZ
Focal 100 VRS Polyglass components in the front

I plan to power the front and rear channels 1-4 then the 2 subs on channel 5

My question is, how bad is the eq curve from the stock high level outputs, and what are my options to sort that out?

can I adjust the treble down to compensate, or is it volume dependent. is it the louder the volume the more curve the system puts on it to stop the distortion?

Set the VRS tweeter level to -3dB, that should be enough to compensate for the overboosted highs of the iDrive EQ outputs.

Thank you Mr Technic, I have just done that right now, I did wonder which setting it was meant to be on. Thanks for your help.

Whilst I think of it, what connectors do you use to plug into the sub woofers? I'm jumping the plugs that normally fit into the subs and want to un independent cable to them, just wondered which connectors i should buy. I tried to get it from BMW but they said it only comes as part of the loom.

I see you include some in your harness, if you could point me in the direction of a description ill try and find a supplier (prob maplin in the UK) which would make my life sooo much easier.

Just installed the focal vrs and new tweet housings in the front.

what a difference in staging and clarity, and thanks technic -3db on the crossover was perfect.

Can't wait to see what the amp does to the sound

I am waiting for my car to come back from BMW with it's new wheels that don't vibrate on the motorway.

then it's amplifier install time!!

I am a little unsure whether to use the GTO 5eZ's auto on sensing or use the 12v relayed wire i have soldered off of pin 13.

If the amps inbuilt auto sensing is as good as the pin13, I'll use that then just run some 12v fans in the compartment where the amp is going (OEM Harman location) to keep things cooler.

Anyone had experience with auto sensing amps?

All installed,

Just need to mess with the crossover settings a bit.

Focal's need to be around 105 (from the manufacturers recommendations)
But what should I set the underseat subs too? (Standard uk 6.5" subs)
And what are the standard 4" mids in the back shelf capable of, prob much less than the focals, I was thinking about 160ish?

Anyone know the frequency responses for standard speakers?

The system already sounds amazing though! Had to turn down the gongs and PDC beeps though lol
