Driver side headlight failed, but works when i move it to the passenger side?

My GF was recently in a small accident, where her passenger side headlight housing was replaced. The original Ballast, bulb and controller were used on the new housing. After putting the new bumper on the drivers side HID light stopped working. The high, and turn signals still work.

We moved the ENTIRE drivers assembly and plugged it into the passenger side, and everything worked fine. So that eliminates the bulb and ballast as the problem. I checked the fuses in the glove compartment, and they seem fine(9,32). Does anyone have any ideas? Is there another fuse panel in the trunk somewhere?

I wonder if I can replace the factory HIDs with and aftermarket kit, and then run a switch inside the car.... or maybe a relay to the passenger wiring?
