E82 / E88 1 Series (2008 - 2013)
BMWs throw back to the iconic 2002, with a renewed form and function. The smallest car in BMW's line up but still packs a punch. Available in coupe or convertible, powered by either an inline 6 in the 128 or the twin turbo rocket sled 135.

Frameless windows on series 1 US models

Are all US models of the series 1 built with frameless door windows?

I reside in the land of ice and snow. I'd rather deal with framed windows than continually chipping ice out of the gaskets, etc.

Carry a cup of water out with you and pour it over window before opening the door, no chipping ice involved.

I live in this stuff. I've Been There and Done That. This isn't a viable long-term solution. I need doors which reliably open and close in all weather and conditions without fuss.

Framed doors are a requirement. Since they are not available in the US 1-series, I'll take a look at the 3-series sedans.

I believe it's just the 3-door 1-series and the convertible/coupé versions that have frameless windows. As I recall the 5-door 1-series has framed windows.

My understanding is that the 5-door models were never sold in USA.

My bad, you're right. I honestly thought that the new 1-series 3/5-doors would be on sale in the USA, but there are no plans yet to do so.
It's just the coupé and convertible, which means -> Frameless windows.
