Car automatically shifts into Park at low speed

So I just finished getting my car unstuck in the snow and after I got it out, when I try to go in Drive it automatically shifts me back into park when I start to drive.... Any idea what this might be?

Some one I know seems to think when trying to get it unstuck in the snow and having the wheels spin and then catch on the pavement it may have burnt up the clutches in the transmission.... Anyone else have any ideas?

I dont have any ideas, just wanted to ask: Does it slam the transmission in park as you're rolling, or is this an instantaneous shifting back into park?

as I'm rolling.... I will start to drive and after about 15 yards it slams into park or starts clicking as if it is trying to shift back into park

My wife's '08 5 Series does that if a door is open; haven't noticed it in my '07 7 Series.
