BMW manual transmission vs Mercedes manual transmissions
Mercedes transmissions tend to be notchy due to the design of using shifter linkages and rubber bushings. Do BMW manual transmissions of the same errs, 1986 thru 1988'sh feel notchy?

They use a very similar gearshift mechanism. I've never driven a M-B manual of that era, but I'm sure the shifter feel is very similar. Incidentally, do you think notchy is bad?
Personally, I like a precise feel to a shifter. After driving an '84 633 extensively before replacing all the shifter bushings, I can best describe the feel as "stick in a bucket of mud ". After the rebuild the difference is nothing short of remarkable. Worth every cent and every minute spent to renew it.
