04 325ci starting issue?

Becoming a more frequent event. when i turn the key to start the car and it begins to fire i then let off the key and the car dies. almost like what happens if you dont hold the key long enough, which is what i had thought at first the issue was. but this problem has become more frequent. i have done my searching so please dont tell me to search this first. i wasnt able to find any posts with similar symptoms. car has 90k, i read some things about the fuel pump being a possiblity but i dont want to waste a buncha time or money replacing good parts. no check engine light. any input greatly appreciated.

Why are you asking in the M3 forum?

First thing I would do it have the codes read, to see if the car can tell what went wrong.

my bad..wrong forum. Will there be any codes even without any check engine lights on? i drive american..this is the wifes car. so i would also like to know if anybody recommends any shops around the seattle area that are true BMW fiends and could do a real diagnostic.
