heated steering wheel: possible problem?

Hi
I notice my heated steering wheel is MUCH hotter on the right side than the left, and one particular segment on the left side from 9 to 10:30 (on a clock) has virtually no heat at all, even when other parts of the wheel are almost too hot to hold. Wifey says this is probably just the placement of the heating coils, but I'm thinking something is malfunctioning. Anyone else notice this?
tnx

MO: Too hot at some areas and missing heat at others is not normal. I would have service check it.
