March production changes; 2005 E46 Coupe & Cabrio

Hot off the presses!! Two "enhancements" to the 2005 E46 Coupe and Convertible, effective March production.

1. On the 330Ci/330Cic Performance Package, the Alcantara steering wheel will be replaced with a newly-designed M3-style leather wheel that is partially perforated.

2. Monaco Blue will replace Orient Blue starting with March production.

rumratt, GT4 is a real racing simulator. It's a lot of fun and I bet you would appreciate it, if you gave it a chance.

CAR magazine said the Nissan 350Z was more fun to drive in the game than in real life.

Monaco Blue will also be a color offered on the 2006 3 series sedan. I ordered a 330 convertible in Monaco Blue Friday; I can't wait to get it!

Now this sounds interesting. Can you tell us if it uses the same round airbag as all other sport/M steering wheels? Thanks!

I am doing Ed and picking up my 330Ci with Performance pkg on March 17, I know my bmw has been built already. What are the changes of me getting the new steering wheel installed, I would prefer it to the alcantara wheel?

I would say it's unlikely. Now, your dealer could swap them out for you on redelivery, potentially. Worst case, you just buy the new wheel, swap it in, and then eBay the old one. I'm sure there are takers for a lightly used alcantara wheel.

It looks ok. It would have been better if it was all perforated leather or all regular
leather. Anycase, I think it's better than the alcantara.

Whew, I think I actually prefer the all Alcantara or all leather look. Somehow the perforations look too I dunno sporty? BMW's beauty is understated luxury blended with sport. I think the perforated leather is very non-BMW like.

That's a nice steering wheel, so much better then the Alcantara one. Now they just have to give the option to have different trim options then the cube. I can see not offering wood trim with the ZHP option, but why can't you get Aluminum?

THANKS! I like it! It's more about feel than look for me. The feel of the alcantara, IMHO, is like a pair of PJs. Leather baby!

Now, does the shift boot and emergency brake also have leather to match? It's alcantara in the ZHP equipped cars I've seen so far.

E46 sedans are done. Coupes and converts are still plugging away for another year or so.

Sedans and wagons are. Coupes and convertibles have about one more year of production left on the E46 platform.
